The phono preamp alone is why most people purchase this receiver Advent 300 is a favorite of mine but I can't say I'm too surprised by test results, as a bit of noise and power supply ripple was visible at the outputs of mine even after I had replaced every single electrolytic and tantalum capacitor.
Had a Sunn Magna 3800 powering system, 160 watts per channel into 8 ohms I bought a second-hand Advent 300 receiver for $75 soon after joining Stereophile The controls work fine with no static or other problems
